Press Release: A1065 closed as security precaution, now reopened Published July 7, 2014 By Staff Reports 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 48 FW/PA POC | Staff Sgt. Thomas Trower Email | 48fw.pa@us.af.mil Release # | 140701 Date | July 7, 2014 During a routine vehicle inspection at Gate 8, a base entry point, a U.S. Air Force military working dog identified a security concern. As part of a standard response, officials closed the A1065 in all directions near the base's Gate 8 at about 8:30 a.m. July 7. Ministry of Defence Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts responded to the event as part of a partnership agreement between U.K. and U.S. officials. EOD checked the package and declared there was no threat to the public or the base. The scene was declared safe, the A1065 was reopened and all base gate traffic returned to normal around 11:20 a.m. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused commuters; however, public safety is our top priority in these situations. Thankfully, the expedient response of the EOD team allowed normal operations to resume as quickly as possible. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding. - 30 - Please visit www.lakenheath.af.mil, www.twitter.com/48FighterWing or www.facebook.com/RAFLakenheath for base information.
