Press Release: 4th of July Celebration hosted at RAF Feltwell

RAFs Lakenheath and Mildenhall will host a free 4th of July celebration, open to the general public, at RAF Feltwell from noon to midnight on July 4.

The 48th Fighter Wing and the 100th Air Refueling Wing are excited to celebrate this summer holiday and share the tradition with the local community.

There will be food, carnival rides and live entertainment, as well as a demonstration by the RAF Red Arrows and a traditional 4th of July Fireworks display. The current schedule is as follows, but is subject to change:
  • Car and Bike Show: Noon - 7 p.m.
  • Youth Area (Bouncy castles, climbing wall, etc.): Noon - 7 p.m.
  • Carnival Rides: Noon - Midnight
  • Family Contests, Melon Eating and Sack Races: 1 - 2 p.m.
  • Falcons Parachute Display: 2 p.m.
  • Birds of Prey Demo: 2:30 p.m.
  • Pie Eating Contest: 3 - 4 p.m.
  • Community Demos: 4 - 5 p.m.
  • Mustang & Spitfire Flying Display: 5 p.m.
  • Red Arrows Air Display: 6 p.m.
  • Local Bands: 7 - 10 p.m.
  • Fireworks Display: 10 p.m.
While personal food and drink will not be permitted, it will be available for purchase throughout the duration of the event. With the exception of service animals for the disabled, animals will not be allowed into the festival area. For safety reasons, all attendees are subject to search prior to entry, and some items are forbidden in the festival area.

Prohibited items include:
  • All liquids except for one half-liter of water per person
  • Coolers
  • Backpacks, duffle bags and other large, hand-carried items 
  • Weapons (knives, firearms, objects that fire a projectile that can potentially injure someone, blunt force objects, etc.)
  • Drugs and drug paraphernalia
  • Potential explosive material
  • Protest paraphernalia (banners, spray paint, locks, chains, handcuffs, fence-cutting tools, bullhorns, etc.)

Interviews may be possible with the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team following their performance. Please let us know as soon as possible if you're interested in this opportunity so the team can plan accordingly and accommodate your request.

The 48th FW Public Affairs staff will be available at the event all day to assist you with anything you need, to include interviews with military personnel. Security forces will not allow large, hand-carried items into the festival area; however, we recognize that media often require equipment. Public affairs will escort media into the celebration and provide accreditation to cover the event. All media representatives wishing to attend must provide the following information via e-mail to 48fw.pa@us.af.mil by 4:30 p.m., June 30. 
  • Full name 
  • Date of birth
  • Name of media outlet 
  • Media type (television, radio, newspaper)
  • Valid photo identification with ID type and number (please note identification cards must have an expiration date visible on the card)
  • Vehicle make, model, color, and registration number.
All vehicles must have current vehicle documents, to include road tax.
