Community Awareness Bulletin: Personal protective measures Published June 24, 2014 48th Fighter Wing Antiterrorism Office ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- As part of the current 48th Fighter Wing exercise, all personnel are reminded to review individual protection measures for yourself and family members. All personnel are reminded to : BE SMART: Stay as low-key as possible. Don't wear U.S. identifiable items (sweatshirts, etc). Don't escalate, escape. If confronted, leave the area. Don't openly display military equipment or field gear in your vehicle. Always lock your car. Be alert while driving or riding in a vehicle. BE AWARE: Traffic backup at the perimeter gates is due to 100 percent identification checks. At times, two forms of identification are required when entering the perimeter gates. The 48th Security Forces Squadron will be conducting vehicle inspections at the gates. There may be road closures due to implementation of exercise Force Protection Condition (FPCON) measures. BE VIGILANT: Watch for unfamiliar vehicles cruising or parked frequently in the area, particularly if one or more occupants remain in the vehicle for extended periods. Write down license plate numbers, makes, models and colors of suspicious vehicles. Note descriptions of occupants and take photographs if it can be done discreetly. Treat with suspicion any inquiries from strangers. BE SAFE: Dress, conduct and mannerisms should not attract attention. Travel in small groups as much as possible and vary movements so as not to be predictable. Try to be inconspicuous when using public transportation and facilities. We recommend to consider avoiding large off-installation events and high density public transportation. As always, report all suspicious activity to the 48th SFS at DSN 226-2333, commercial 01638 522333, or local police on commercial 999 as appropriate.
