Core Value Portrayed: Excellence in All We Do

How does the individual portray that core value? Wyrick has hit the ground running; he recently completed his first set of career development courses ahead of schedule. He has stepped up where he is needed.

Why did you join the Air Force? I've spent much of my life searching for something I'd be willing to dedicate myself towards. Needless to say, my standards for this niche became increasingly higher as my adult life continued. I needed something I could put 100 percent of myself into and get more than just a paycheck. Not having any close family or friends who served in the military, I never considered this path until my wife, at the time, joined the Air Force. Firsthand experience of this strong culture and structure consumed me. It didn't take long before I found myself in boots, proud of the most important decision in my life.

How does your job support the mission of the 48th Fighter Wing? As a client systems technician, we provide communication support for the day-to-day user. We're responsible for upkeeping and troubleshooting "from the desk to the wall." We enable our customers to be able to utilize information systems to their maximum potential, ensuring the 48th FW can complete the mission efficiently. Going out and working on trouble tickets daily and interacting with personnel presents the CST shop as "The Face of Comm."

What drives you as an Airman? A passion for knowledge and personal accomplishment is what motivates me every day. The pride my family has in me, coupled with these ambitions, keeps me encouraged and locked on to my targets.

What skills do you possess that set you apart from other Airmen in your shop? I find my patience and my thirst for clear communication are some of my greatest assets. Both of these skills help me hone my leadership abilities, as well as keep me focused and calm to prevail in times of great stress.

What has been your favorite place to travel in England/Europe, or where would you like to travel to? The most nostalgic and overwhelming feeling hit me on the peak of Snowdon Mountain in Snowdonia National Park, Wales. Maybe it was the endorphins pumping through my body after eight hours of climbing with a rucksack, or it was the enthralling imagery as I stood on the snowcapped peak and surveyed the transcendent, treacherous landscape. It made me realize I need to get higher, that I need more of a challenge. My eyes are now set to climb Ben Nevis in Scotland and Zugspitze in Germany.
