48th Fighter Wing announces change of command Published June 28, 2016 By 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- Col. Evan L. Pettus will assume command of the 48th Fighter Wing from Col. Robert G. Novotny, who is departing for another Air Force assignment. The Change of Command ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m., July 19, 2016. The ceremony is an Air Force tradition, which represents the trust of command being passed from one commander to the next. Novotny has served as commander of the 48th FW since 2014. Pettus’ previous assignment was as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, J3, United States Forces Korea. He is a command pilot with more than 2,200 flight hours in the F-15E, and he is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy.
