Action Line: Post Office Parking Lot Construction

COMPLAINT:

During the recent construction at the Post Office, why was there so little notification of base personnel?

I checked with our first shirt and he said he had received no information. Seems that a facility we have been directed to visit daily would have published advance notice of the construction and advised personnel of the limited parking around and near the Post Office.

Was there any thought given to posting any notice to all DoD personnel as to the scheduled construction activities, especially scheduled completion date?

RESPONSE:

Thank you for addressing your concern regarding the recent post office parking lot resurfacing.

In order to inform our customers, a variety of notifications were used. Primarily, flyers were posted on every door and throughout the Post Office for the two weeks leading up to the resurfacing. Additionally, this flyer was added to our screensaver slides so that the 4,000 monitors on base would cycle through various base advertisements when they switched to screensaver mode. All commanders and wing staff agency chiefs were notified in advance so they could inform their personnel.

In the future, we will look to better communicate to our valued customers by increasing the methods by which we advertise to include notices to the DoDDS schools, spouses groups, and other base agencies. There is always room for improvement when it comes to communicating with our customers.

Again, thank you for your feedback.
