COMPLAINT:
When is RAF Lakenheath going to get Voicemail back?

I support several bases and sites around Europe and my IT users need to get hold of me when they need IT support. If I am on the phone assisting a user, other users just get a ring tone when they try and contact me.

RESPONSE:
Thank you for your inquiry regarding our base voicemail system. You are not alone among customers on base who are anxiously awaiting a new voicemail system.

Acquiring an operational voicemail system is a major priority and we have received funding from USAFE. The contract was awarded in September 2009 and contractors were onsite to fix the current system in November.

Unfortunately, the current system was determined to be beyond repair and the contractor immediately ordered the latest high-tech voicemail solution to fulfill the contractual obligations. The equipment will be delivered in early February 2010 with installation and configuration to immediately follow. This system will integrate nicely with the 4,000 voice over internet protocol (VoIP) phones that will be simultaneously fielded. Inaddition to normal voicemail functionality, this system will send your voicemail messages to your official Outlook Inbox allowing you to listen to your messages on your computer.

In the meantime, if you cannot wait until the new system comes online, please contact our base telephone experts at 226-3292 to provide you with alternate technical solutions to help meet your mission needs.
