The 48th Medical Group commander, Col. Kenneth McDonnell, would like to invite all military retirees and their spouses to the first official Retiree Screening Health Day 2008, Nov. 3 here from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Base Theater and hospital.

Lakenheath physicians, nurses, and technicians will provide a myriad of health screening services featuring more than 10 experts in the fields of urology, dermatology, audiology, immunizations, general health care and several others.

Services will include brief lectures, flu vaccine administration and screenings for: blood pressure, blood, skin cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, oral cancer, prostate cancer and hearing. In addition, interactive informational booths will present general preventive health information to build awareness of health risks and to promote lifestyle changes for overall health enhancement.

Offerings will include nutrition, weight loss, smoking cessation, Tricare enrollment and benefits, proper posture and body mechanics, strength training, self breast exams, and the new dental option.

Army and Air Force Exchange Service has donated numerous items and gift certificates that will be given away throughout the event. Military retirees have paid for their healthcare by serving their country honorably through many years of personal sacrifice so the 48th MDG would like to give back to our retirees to the fullest extent possible by presenting this Retiree Health Screening Day.
