DoD Civilian personnel may be suspended without pay for a minimum of one month. Do the right thing and make sure you know it's official business. To make sure you are not misusing a GOV; ask yourself a few questions first.

Is it for official use? In other words, does it further the mission the Air Force? Personal convenience is not one of the Air Force's priorities.

How does it reflect on the Air Force? Good relationships with host countries are vital to the mission. If you witness a vehicle misuse, report it! In AFI 24-301 2.3 Vehicle misuse investigation is all about how. To report, call your base transportation office. (RAFL DSN 226-3620) The only information you need is the registration plate number, the time and place of the misuse, your contact information, and the name of the driver if possible.

TDY personnel have special authorized uses, that may appear to be misuse. TDY personnel need transportation from lodging, eating establishments, drugstores, barber shops, base theater, places of worship, golf course, and cleaning establishments. Special exceptions are made to provide sustenance and comfort for TDY personnel. GOVs are not allowed at any other entertainment or recreational activity. The best thing to ask yourself: is it official business? Does it further the Air Force mission? Always report a vehicle misuse by taking corrective action. There have been eleven vehicle misuse cases on Lakenheath this year alone. Do not make the mistake of wasting the Air Force's money.
