Survival course shows why flights divert, train over countryside
U.S. Air Force aircrew are subjected to torrential rain, 4-foot waves, simulated lightning and gale-force winds during an exercise in a water survival training course led by U.S. Air Force survival training experts at the Lowestoft College pool in Lowestoft, England, May 22, 2014. The class prepared aircrew for dangerous environments created by harsh weather conditions over water. The 48th Fighter Wing’s strategic, European-based location enables the unit to support U.S. Air Forces in Europe’s “Forward, Ready, Now” posture by providing worldwide, responsive, combat airpower.
