Santa trades sleigh for helicopter, ditches elves for Airmen

ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England - Santa Claus, a North Pole native, waits to be picked up by an all-terrain vehicle driven by Staff Sgt. Anthony DeRoest, 56th Rescue Squadron pararescueman and native of Portland, Ore., as Tech. Sgt. Mike Morrison, 56th RQS NCO in charge of standards and evaluations and native of Salisbury, Mo., raises the hoist before the HH-60G Pave Hawk departs Dec. 1, 2012. According to Claus, the 56th RQS's combat search and rescue capabilities, which allow it to execute all-weather search and rescue missions day or night including those in hostile environments, made it an ideal unit to team up with to deliver Christmas cheer.
