“Vicar of Baghdad" visits Lakenheath
ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England – The Rev. Canon Andrew White, St. George’s Church vicar, speaks to military members and their families March 24, 2012. St. George’s Church is the largest remaining Anglican church in Iraq, ministering to more than 550 local Iraqi Christian families, which has led to White being known as the “Vicar of Baghdad.” Additionally the St. George’s Clinic, located in the church compound, provides free medical and dental care to approximately 2,000 Iraqi patients every month.
