Filling the gap
MOSUL, NINEWA PROVINCE, Iraq -- From left, Master Sgts. Kenneth Hans, John Murrell, Ralph Zanfagna, and Jaime Cordero, Jr., salute 732nd Expeditionary Support Squadron commander Lt. Col. Geoffrey Ellazar after receiving Iraqi Campaign and Air Force Expeditionary medals. Master Sgt. Cordero, of RAF Lakenheath, and the other sergeants were all assigned to the 732 EMSG administratively during the deployment and operationally, then "chopped" tactically to the Army's 403rd Civil Affairs Battalion. More than 1,700 combat Airmen from the 732 EMSG perform these "ILO," or in-lieu-of taskings at more than 60 forward operating locations throughout Iraq. (U.S. Air Force Photo)
