Lakenheath tests small-diameter bombs

A modified F-15E Strike Eagle, assigned to the 494th Fighter Squadron, launched on an operational training mission from Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, on Monday, July 10, with the bomb release unit-61. The aircraft was one of four to participate in the first training mission with the new technology. The BRU-61 carries the newest small-diameter bomb, the guided bomb unit-39, into battle when the unit deploys in September. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Michael Hess)
