Students’ knowledge grows through STEM

A Lakenheath Intermediate School student participates in a hands-on activity during the 8th bi-annual Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Day at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, March 25, 2014. During STEM day, students rotated through a variety of hands-on activities including a digital star lab, puff mobiles, bridge construction, astronomy maps, and teeth and scientific inquiries led by subject matter experts. “Our school participates in different activities throughout the year to immerse 4th and 5th graders into STEM,” said Randi Dalton, STEM coordinator. “Those activities include STEM workshops, contests, clubs, and military and British guest speakers.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Trevor T.
