Colonel Whisenhunt is the Commander, 48th Mission Support
Group, Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom. The 48th
Mission Support Group is the second largest in USAFE, with 2,100
personnel, 651 facilities, 1,300 military family housing units
valued at $5.6 billion, as well as the largest AAFES and DeCA
facilities in the United Kingdom, and five DoDEA schools across
three bases.
Colonel Whisenhunt enlisted in the Air Force in May 1997 from
Papillion, Nebraska as a Computer Systems Programmer. He
received his Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information
Systems from Bellevue University, Bellevue, Neb and earned a
commission through Officer Training School in January 2007. He
has served on the Joint Staff and in multiple Major Commands and
Numbered Air Forces, including two tours as the Chief of Protocol,
Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Colonel Whisenhunt has completed a
number of staff-level assignments to include Executive Officer to
four Numbered Air Force Commanders and commanded the 60th
Force Support Squadron, Travis AFB, California.
Prior to his current position, Colonel Whisenhunt was the Deputy
Commander, Air Force Manpower Analysis Agency, Joint Base San
Antonio-Randolph, Texas.
