NEWS RELEASE UPDATE: Vehicle crash claims the life of Liberty Airman

ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- A Liberty Airman died in a car accident Thursday while traveling on the B1112 in Weeting, England.

Senior Airman Juan Gutierrez, a 21-year-old assistant dedicated crew chief, was assigned to the 748th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. He arrived at RAF Lakenheath in November 2015.

“Our hearts are heavy with the loss of Senior Airman Gutierrez,” said Col. Evan Pettus, 48th Fighter Wing commander. “Everyone here is thinking of his friends and family during this devastating time. He will be sorely missed by the RAF Lakenheath community and all who knew him.”

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
