U.S. Air Force Col. William Marshall, 48th Fighter Wing commander, held his first all call at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, July 20, 2018.

With hundreds of Liberty Airmen gathered, Marshall explained his top priorities and vision for the wing including readiness, preparing for the future, and developing and retaining Airmen.

“My vision is that the 48th FW continues to produce world-class Airmen, ready to conduct combat operations over the full spectrum at a moment’s notice,” Marshall said.

Marshall emphasized that the wing’s purpose is to generate, equip, train, and sustain combat ready airpower and Airmen, and remain an integral part of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa; ready to support combatant commanders, our nation, and our NATO allies.

“We are going to run full tilt. It’s what we do. We are USAFE’s premier combat wing,” Marshall said. “When the phone rings, it’s going be us on the other end of the call.”

Marshall assumed command of the 48th FW July 16, 2018. Previously, he was the 332nd Expeditionary Operations Group commander, Southwest Asia, where he had the opportunity to work with deployed Liberty Wing Airmen.

“I want this assignment to be professionally and personally rewarding for all our Airmen and their families,” Marshall said. “I look forward to working with all of you to make that vision a reality.”
