Readiness remains a major focus of U.S. Air Force leadership, and is being fully integrated into operations aligned with the 48th Fighter Wing’s top priorities at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England.

“My vision is that the 48th FW continues to produce world-class Airmen, ready to conduct combat operations over the full spectrum at a moment’s notice,” said Col. William Marshall, 48th FW commander, during an all call at RAF Lakenheath.

Combat Thursday is a newly instituted program at the Liberty Wing designed to meet the readiness expectations of the Department of Defense.

The core of the program was developed to familiarize Airmen with Mission Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP) equipment and procedures, to effectively perform daily operations in any environment. The training covers a broad spectrum of elements from pre-attack preparedness, post-attack reconnaissance and more.

The 48th Fighter Wing remains United States Air Forces in Europe and Air Forces Africa’s most lethal combat wing through deliberate readiness development. As such, the Liberty Wing continues to develop training programs like Combat Thursday to ensure its Airmen can generate combat airpower in a wide range of environments and scenarios at any time in support of U.S. allies and partners around the globe.
