ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- The 48th Fighter Wing will conduct a three-day Mission Assurance Exercise, Sep 29 – Oct 1, 2020, operating out of Royal Air Force Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Coningsby.
The exercise is designed to test and hone the skills necessary for conducting operations in conventional and chemical warfare environments. This exercise will also integrate Agile Combat Employment concepts, which leverage various operating locations to generate resilient airpower in a contested environment.
“ACE means fighting on the move, with small units and small footprints,” said Col. Jason Camilletti, 48th Fighter Wing commander. “Exercising elements of ACE enables U.S. forces in Europe to operate from locations with varying levels of capacity and support, ensuring Airmen and aircrews are postured to deliver lethal combat power across the spectrum of military operations.”
Exercises and deployments that utilize ACE concepts ensure forces in Europe are ready to protect and defend partners, allies and U.S. interests at a moment’s notice, and generate lethal combat power should deterrence fail.
