Senior Airman Cahill goes above and beyond to provide the 48th Maintenance Group and 48th Fighter Wing commanders with the most current and updated mission capable status for all RAF Lakenheath aircraft and ground support parts. Airman Cahill strives to ensure parts are received in an expedited manner so 48th MXG can plan maintenance with as little aircraft down time as possible. He also led the 48th Logistics Readiness Squadron soccer team to the RAF Lakenheath base championship title. Airman Cahill's dedication to excellence on a daily basis earned him Senior Airman below-the-zone for the 48th Mission Support Group. Why is serving in the Air Force important to you? Military service enhanced my personal character and helped create a grounded, capable individual. Having learned quality, integrity and dependability, it is an honor to take part in protecting our nation and my family. What accomplishment during your Air Force career are you most proud of? Being responsible for the health of the Air Force's C-130s and 555 aircraft, while working at what was then called the Mobilty Air Forces Logistics Support Center, at Scott AFB, Ill. I took pride in running the night shift and being the sole contact and support for all [mission capable aircraft] on the aging fleet of 'Dirty Thirty's' aircraft. What are your personal and career goals? My short term goal is to be a better communicator. While at work, in friendships, writing or at school, I want to become better at effectively communicating my ideas and thoughts to everyone. Communication, the human connection, is the key to personal and career success. My long-term goal is to finish my degree in computer science and to one day start a family.
