Year of the Air Force Family

July 2009 through July 2010 was designated as the "Year of the Air Force Family" by Air Force Secretary Michael B. Donley and Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz.

The Liberty Wing celebrated the "Year of the Air Force Family" with a kick-off party at Eagle's Landing, on Nov. 4.

The celebration began with an essay contest to win tickets to see Toby Keith in concert and gift certificates to RAF Mildenhall's BXtra and giveaways from the Information, Tickets and Travel office.

Some of the other activities for November include:

Electric Avenue - Free Disney movie rental every Wednesday.

Bowling Center - Special bowling prices from Nov. 2 to 6.

Golf Course - Family Golf Day, half-price green fees after 3 p.m. every Sunday.

Base Exchange - Food Court specials Nov. 18 and the family movie "Shorts" at the Lakenheath theater on Nov. 24 at 4 p.m.

Library - "Story Time for Tots", every Thursday in November at 10 am.

Health and Wellness Center - Mom's Central every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and The Great American Smoke Out on Nov. 19.

48th Avenue Community Center - Lunch and Learn on "How to cope with the winter blues" by Military Family Life Council noon to 1 p.m.

48th Avenue Community Center - Family fun show hosted by Navy and Armed Forces Entertainment on Nov. 29 at 2 p.m.

Skating Rink - Family Skating from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov 12.

Airman and Family Readiness Office - Children's Deployment Line from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hangar 7 on Nov. 13.
