Medical officer epitomizes 'Excellence in All We Do'

ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- Maj. Judith Houk, 48th Medical Group education and training chief, was nominated for the Liberty Spotlight by her chain of command because she practices the Air Force core value of "Excellence in All We Do."

Why is serving in the Air Force important to you?
Service is a family tradition. My father joined the Navy Construction Battalion at 14 years old. He was afraid World War II would be over if he waited, so I always felt I should do my part.

What accomplishment during your Air Force career are you most proud of?
My time as a Nurse Transition Program course supervisor. I helped 27 new lieutenant nurses bridge the gaps between nursing school and being full-fledged Air Force nurses. When I see their names come up on promotion lists or school selection lists, I really feel I've made a difference.
