Commander: Col. Kenneth McDonnell Time in Service: 13 years Time at Lakenheath: 20 months Hometown: Murfreesboro, Tenn. Hobbies: Reading, cooking, traveling Core Value Portrayed: Excellence in all we do Why is serving in the Air Force important to you? Service is a family tradition. My father joined the Navy Construction Battalion at 14 years old. He was afraid World War II would be over if he waited, so I always felt I should do my part. What accomplishment during your Air Force career are you most proud of? My time as a Nurse Transition Program course supervisor. I helped 27 new lieutenant nurses bridge the gaps between nursing school and being full-fledged Air Force nurses. When I see their names come up on promotion lists or school selection lists, I really feel I've made a difference.
