During their visit, members of the JCOC will have a chance to interact with wing leadership and young Airmen to further their understanding of the Air Force's role in global missions and national defense. According to http://jcoc.dod.mil/about.jsf the JCOC is a program sponsored by the Secretary of Defense for civilian public opinion leaders interested in growing their knowledge of the military and national defense issues. The JCOC is the oldest existing Pentagon outreach program having been held more than 75 times since 1948. The participants will have the opportunity to meet with Airmen who maintain aircrew life support equipment, perform explosive ordinance disposal and build and maintain the wing's engines. "I think (the JCOC) is an outstanding way to demonstrate our capabilities for civilians who are, or may one day be, in a position to make a difference in what the military's role and capabilities may be in the future," said Maj. Daniel Walker, 48th Operations Support Squadron assistant director of operations. The JCOC will also tour a military working dog demonstration, F15 static displays, a KC-135 air refueler static display, an F15 simulator ride and several other demonstrations and displays.
