Aviano Dragons win USAFE Softball Championship in an If Game Published Aug. 22, 2008 By 48th Force Support Squadron ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- The Aviano Dragons took the USAFE Softball Championship against the Spangdahlem Sabres 23-11 Aug. 16 at the Lakenheath Softball Complex. The Dragons had to go to an If Game to defeat the Sabers after a grueling comeback by the Sabers. The Sabers came out of the losers' bracket to enter the championship game. Mike Aumack, Tim Kellner and Dawan Wood, of the Dragons, led the charge with three hits and scored three runs. Spangdahlem was led by their All-Air Force player and pitcher Dexter High with two hits and a home run. The Top two men and women teams will participate in the Army/Air Force Softball Championships, 21-24 Aug 2008, Grafenwoher, Germany: Aviano and Spangdahlem (Men), Lakenheath and Aviano (Women).
