Airman 1st Class Courteney Jones, 48th Services Squadron food specialist, was nominated for the Liberty spotlight by his chain of command because he embodies the Air Force core value of "Excellence in all we do."

Commander: Lt. Col. Derrick Aiken

Time in service: 28 months

Time at Lakenheath: 23 months

Hometown: Enterprise, Ala.

Hobbies: Basketball, football

Core value portrayed: Excellence in all we do. Airman Jones exemplifies all of the core values but I think "Excellence in all we do" is the first value that comes to mind when describing him and his conduct. He is intelligent, well spoken, fast learning, possesses good social skills and always portrays a professional image. These are just some of the many qualities that allow him to be skillfully diverse and make him an invaluable asset to any work center that he may be assigned to, especially within a SVS organization.

Why is serving important to you?
My grandfather and uncle, both of whom I consider to be role models, each served careers with the United States Air Force. With that said, I chose to follow in their footsteps with aspirations of progressing through a successful AF career and hopefully not only meet, but far exceed their expectations, all the while ultimately tailoring a better life situation for myself and eventually my family.

What are your personal and career goals?
Acquiring my CCAF and also pursuing a degree in the sports medicine field are the personals goals I've set for myself and are the primary focus at this point in my life. Careerwise--I definitely want to achieve the rank of chief master sergeant before I'm done with my career.
