The Officer and Civilian Spouses' Club donated 360 pounds to East Anglia Children's Hospices during a presentation Feb. 19 at the Eagles Landing.

The money can be used to buy nurse's kits, staff training, respite care and other hospice supplies for the three local hospices in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.

The hospice contacted the OCSC and requested assistance in buying 10 nurse's kits. The OCSC agreed to help.

"We wanted to donate the nurse's kits to support the good work that the hospice is doing," said Gisele Novak, OCSC representative. "They provide in-house care and also homebound and respite care. We thought it would be a good way to support this very worthy charity."

The OCSC not only raised enough money to donate the funds for 10 nurse's kits, but with the help of profits from the fall bazaar, they were able to donate double the requested amount.

"I think this donation is fantastic. As a former registered nurse, I know this will directly affect patient care and also make the nurses' visits much easier. I think it's all around a great way to spend our money," said Mrs. Novak.

Sue Meader, East Anglia's Children's Hospices community fundraiser, came to the base to collect the check on behalf of the hospices. She also gave a presentation expressing the hospice's appreciation of the OCSC's donation.

"In any one year, we're helping around 350 families who have a child that has an incurable illness," said Ms. Meader. "It's really nice to come a long and accept the donation in person, and tell people how it's going to be used."
