RAF Lakenheath’s Military Equal Opportunity and the Equal Employment Office merge Published Dec. 10, 2007 By Airman 1st Class Kristopher Levasseur 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- The Liberty Wing's Equal Employment Opportunity and Military Equal Opportunity offices will merge Jan. 1 as part of the an Air Force budget initiative. The offices are preparing for an Air Force-wide merger which will create a one-stop shop for both military and civilian grievances. The MEO and EEO offices will be called Equal Opportunity. In addition to being capable of serving both military and civilian members, additional staff members will be available to serve as alternative dispute resolution program mediators. "The ADR programs goal is to help any Liberty Warriors, military or civilian, reach a positive resolution at the lowest level," said Senior Master Sgt. Roosevelt Wilson, 48th Fighter Wing equal opportunity chief. "We have been training mediators to facilitate this program." As a merged office, EO goals include combining complaint management processing, maintaining an efficient, fair and impartial complaint resolution process and a responsive and legally compliant EO program. "Over the last couple of months we have been training hard to make the merger work from day one," said Angela Robinson, 48th FW equal opportunity technician. "We still have a little ways to go before the merger in January, but so far everything is going smoothly." "We have been preparing for the merger ever since we heard about it in May," said Sergeant Wilson. "Air Force-wide, MEO technicians and EEO counselors have been going back stateside for cross training so they can become proficient in each others jobs." The Air Force continually works to transform to a more efficient force and the 48th EO office is one of the many groups leading the charge into the future.
