Renovations on youth center parking lot and playground begins Published Nov. 13, 2007 By Sarah Harr 48th Services Squadron marketing and publicity ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England -- The RAF Lakenheath Youth Center will undergo construction Nov. 19 to Feb. 2008. Construction will include an expanded parking lot and new play ground for the youth programs school age program. The new base perimeter fence will also begin construction during this time frame. The existing parking lot will be closed Nov 19 and a temporary parking lot for Youth Center staff and limited customer use will be created near Bangor Rd. "Safety is paramount during this time," Matthew Driver, 48th Services Squadron family member programs flight chief. "48th Services will ensure there is a youth programs staff member on site in front of the youth center during our peak customer times to help ensure the safety of our customers. We also encourage parents to reinforce the need for caution during the construction phase to ensure the safety of all children using youth programs." Upon completion of the construction to the parking lot and playground, youth center customers will have a larger parking area with additional parking spaces and a new playground for school age program youth. "This will be a challenge for our staff, base housing residents and customers during the next few months. I just ask that everyone be patient while we make great changes to the facility and that everyone exercise a little more caution in regards to pedestrians in the area during the construction time frame," Mr. Driver said.
