RAF Lakenheath Airmen took part in a NATO evaluated set-piece demo from Oct. 30 to 31 as a precursor to the NATO Operations Evaluation scheduled for November.

Participants from organizations around base such as the maintenance group, operations group and civil engineer squadron performed many different tasks such as live fire fighting, munitions builds, full munitions load aircraft turn-arounds and chemical warfare demonstrations.

"A set-piece demonstration allows us to show NATO that we have the ability to complete certain tasks that are either repetitive, expensive or time consuming, allowing us to accommodate the shortened timeline of the OPEVAL," said Lt. Col. Douglas Jenkins, 48th Fighter Wing exercises and inspections chief.

The purpose of a set-piece demo is to demonstrate RAF Lakenheath's capability to perform tasks that will be simulated in the OPEVAL.

"The demo was a great way for the 48th Munitions Squadron to get out there and show what we can do," said Master Sgt. Larry Crenshaw, 48th MUNS, conventional maintenance element chief. "After seeing our performance, I know we will do well in the OPEVAL."
