The Teen Center on RAF Lakenheath closed its doors Aug. 21 until mid-December for renovations.

The renovation includes upgrades to the center's fire suppression system, repainting of the exterior, repair work to the roof and renovation of the front reception area.

"This renovation will provide a structural and a cosmetic face-lift," said Allison McQueen, Marketing Director, 48th Services Squadron.

The 48th SVS is offering teens a variety of programs and events at the 48th Avenue Community Center to keep them busy during the renovations.

"The Teen Center is an awesome place for our Lakenheath teens, and with the planned upgrades to the facility the Teen Center will be spectacular," said Matt Driver, Family Member Programs Flight Chief.

The Lakenheath Community Center is offering an additional array of teen focused events and programs during the Teen Center remodeling time frame to accommodate the base youth ages 13-18.

"We are offering our teens an alternate place to gather during the Teen Center's renovation process at 48th Avenue. The staff is excited at the prospect of supporting our base teens during the temporary closure," said Mr. Driver.

"We're excited about the new changes we hope the teens will be equally excited," said Ms. McQueen.

A free dance for teens is being held at 48th Avenue Aug. 24 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
48th Avenue is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-10:30 p.m., Saturday noon-10:30 p.m. and Sunday noon-6 p.m.
