The 48th Fighter Wing was recently announced as the winner of the 2023 Commander-in-Chief’s Installation Excellence Award for the Department of the Air Force.

The CINC IEA is awarded annually to one installation from each military service and recognizes the outstanding work of those who operate and maintain DOD installations, each of which succeeded at being the best in achieving excellence in performing installation management within their military service and the Defense Logistics Agency.

“The Liberty team is humbled and honored by our selection as the CINC IEA winner for 2022,” said Brig. Gen. Joseph L. Campo, 48th Fighter Wing commander. “We have an amazing group of personnel supported by our families and our local community.”

Established in 1985 by President Ronald Regan, the CINC IEA focuses on innovation and maximizing available resources to improve base-level services, facilities and quality of life. The award also encourages commanders to foster an environment that promotes innovative and creative ways of enhancing services and the quality of installations.

Installations are evaluated on how well they achieve the department’s objectives in several areas of installation management, including mission support, energy conservation, quality of life and unit morale, environmental stewardship, real property management, safety, health and security, communications and public relations.

Following the evaluation, 30 individuals and teams from the Liberty Wing were nominated to receive special recognition for exemplary achievement in support of installation excellence.
