Powering the F-35A Lightning II for Combat Readiness Published Dec. 9, 2024 By Senior Airman Seleena Muhammad-Ali 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, Lakenheath -- Maintainers with the 495th Fighter Generation Squadron ready and launch F-35A Lightning II aircraft Nov. 19. The 48th Fighter Wing has a dedicated fighter generation squadron assigned to each of its four fighter squadrons, increasing control of their assets and allowing commanders to set squadron priorities to meet the needs of Airmen while enhancing combat readiness, maximizing aircraft availability and supporting the mission requirements of the Liberty Wing. The 495th FGS plays a critical role in supporting 495th FS pilots by maintaining and preparing F-35A Lightning II aircraft for daily operations. Their work ensures aircraft are mission-ready, enabling pilots to train effectively and maintain combat readiness. This collaboration is vital, as pilots rely on the squadron’s expertise to guarantee the safety and performance of their aircraft.
