Core Value Portrayed: "Excellence in All We Do"

How does the individual portray that core value?
Hensley epitomizes excellence every day. Her tireless work ethic and can-do attitude have been paramount to the 48th FSS's success. Most recently, she exhibited this core value during a beddown site survey in Norway, assisting the unit training manager, performing duties as the secretary for the local Air Force Sergeants Association chapter, and volunteering to prepare the 48th Fighter Wing's birthday meal. Hensley is an outstanding NCO.

Why is serving in the Air Force important to you? The sense of pride is unmatched and something only garnered serving in a military capacity. The feeling you get when a stranger says, "Thank you for what you do," is simply amazing and well worth the sacrifices endured.

What accomplishment during your Air Force career are you most proud of? In 2005, I was part of a response team following Hurricane Katrina. Our team was from Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla., and we provided support to Keesler AFB, Miss. Our initial task was to get the dining facilities up and running so we could feed members on base and in the local community. Once operational, the line was non-stop. We provided personnel with their first hot meal in days. People's eyes were filled with tears of joy. The hot meal provided personnel with hope. It was exhausting work for all involved and something I still cherish.

What are your personal and/or professional goals? My professional goal is to lead by example and be there for our Airmen who face increased challenges and demands every day. My personal goal is to have a good moral center to take care of myself and others.

What is your favorite part of the job? No matter how long you have been in the Air Force, there is always an opportunity to learn and go outside your comfort zone. It's easy to get in a rut, but the key is to always stay positive and do your best. You never know what might come your way.
