K.I.A. WWII Airmen among the honored at Remembrance Day ceremony
MARTLESHAM HEATH, England - A page is dedicated to 2nd Lt. James Des Jardins, an American Airman who was killed in action during World War II, in the Roll of Honor book at Martlesham Heath. The book has a page dedicated to each of the 72 American Airmen of the 356th Fighter Group who lost their lives during World War II. It took more than a month for Des Jardins' family to get word that he was missing in action. His parents, who had already buried one son, received the letter informing them he was missing in action three days after Christmas. He was returned home to Green Bay, Wis., in September 2012, after being missing in action for nearly 68 years. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Stephen Linch)
