48th Fighter Wing Honor Guard answers ‘The Call’
EDINBURGH, Scotland—Airman 1st Class Erika Rodriguez, 48th Fighter Wing Honor Guard team member, stands at attention in front of “The Call” war monument during the 79th Scottish American Memorial Day Service May 27, 2013. The statue, depicting a seated kilted Scot soldier “calling to arms” the Scottish population, commemorates the Scotsmen who lost their lives during the Great War. Because of budget constraints, Rodriguez and the rest of her 5-member team paid for their travel to Edinburgh with personal funds in order to represent the U.S. Armed Forces.
