12/14/2011 - RAF MILDENHALL, England -- The 2011-2012 Intramural Basketball season kicked off with the joint RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath Lady Eagles varsity basketball team hosting the Cambridge University Lady Panthers in an exhibition game at the North Side Fitness Center here Dec. 1.
The Lady Eagles pulled off a 42-17 win in a show of talent and skill against a competitive Cambridge squad.
Kenneth Dunbar, Lady Eagles coach, said he expects this to be one of many matches with local college and community teams.
"[Our] team has limited opportunities to display their talent against other lady varsity teams," said Dunbar. "The on-base schedule is a tough one against all predominately-male squadrons, but the Lady Eagles compete extremely well, and we expect a few wins."
