Updated Visa reimbursement entitlements

Effective immediately, military members will be reimbursed for standard Visa application fees only. Premium expedited Visa fees will only be reimbursed with documented squadron commander approval and will be judged on a case by case basis. For more information, call the MPF at 226-1210 or the Civilian Personnel Section at 238-3065.

Driving in France

Effective July 1, 2012, all drivers in France must carry a breathalyzer test kit in their vehicle. Starting Nov. 1, 2012, any driver found not carrying a kit in their vehicle will be fined €11. This new regulation applies to anybody driving through France.

Anyone driving in France must carry a warning triangle and a fluorescent safety vest for each vehicle occupant. The vest should be carried inside the car, not in the trunk. Failure to have these in the car can lead to a fine of €90. Additionally, unless you have a number plate incorporating the GB logo you should affix a separate GB sticker to your vehicle. Also ensure you have changed the direction of your headlight beams to avoid dazzling oncoming vehicles.

American Red Cross relocation

The American Red Cross office has relocated to building 872 on the first floor. The new building is on Rochester Rd. to the rear of the Lakenheath High School. Hours of operation are from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

New RAF Feltwell Veterinary Clinic hours

The RAF Feltwell Veterinary Clinic hours have changed to the following:

Monday - Friday - 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

They also offer at least two evening clinics per month from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and one Saturday clinic per month from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. These exceptions are only offered for wellness appointments. Basic surgical services are normally offered Monday through Thursday. For more information, call 226-7097.

New Allergy/Immunizations Clinic hours

The Allergy/Immunizations Clinic hours have changed to the following:

Mondays - 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Tuesdays - 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Wednesday - 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Thursdays and Fridays - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Passport issuance limitations for 2012

Due to the Olympics and Para-Olympics this summer, the Embassy will be heavily involved and will have reduced manpower. This will limit the ability to process passport applications. Passport issuance will be very limited, so if your passport is near its expiry date, apply as early as possible to get a new one.

Department of Defense Education Activity looking for feedback

DODEA is developing a new Community Strategic Plan for 2012-2016 and have launched a feedback website, http://cspfeedback.dodea.edu/ to gather opinions from parents, teachers, military leadership, children and anyone else that is interested.

SOCKS - Spouse On-Line Computer Knowledge and Skills

This is a free Airman and Family Readiness Center program designed to help spouses improve computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Photoshop and many other programs. For more information, contact the A&FRC at 226-3847.

48th MDG to collect unused prescription drugs

The 48th Medical Group will be collecting expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs at the Base Exchange and BXtra April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Agency Take Back initiative, the service is free, anonymous and avoids health and safety hazards posed by flushing drugs down the toilet or throwing them in the trash. RAF Lakenheath Red Cross Office Grand Opening

The American Red Cross will be holding a grand opening and open house in building 872 on May 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food, prizes and games for children will be provided. For more information, call 226-1855.

RAFs Lakenheath and Mildenhall Chapels sponsoring free movie night

The Lakenheath and Mildenhall Chapel's are sponsoring free showings of the movie "Courageous", 5 May 2012. RAF Lakenheath will show the movie in the Strike Eagle Complex at 5 p.m. and RAF Mildenhall will show the movie at the base theater at 10 a.m. For more information call the RAF Lakenheath Chapel at 226-3711 or the RAF Mildenhall Chapel at 238-2822.

Blood drive

There will be a blood drive held at the RAF Lakenheath Fitness Center May 9 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The drive will be facilitated by the Armed Services Blood Program.

The blood drive is open to all military members and dependents 17 years and older.

Please see a list of common items preventing individuals from donating blood, here, but remember, just because you can't donate doesn't mean your significant other, child or friend can't.

If you are able to donate please make an appointment at www.militarydonor.com. Click here to see a step-by-step guide. Walk-ins are also welcome.

As with all of our blood drives there will be free cookies and juice!

Bone marrow registry drive

There will be a bone marrow registry drive on RAFs Lakenheath and Mildenhall between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., May 15-17.

Stop by any of the following locations to participate. On RAF Lakenheath, visit the Commissary, Base Exchange or post office. On RAF Mildenhall, visit the Bob Hope Center or BXtra.

Harry Potter Tour

Join Information, Tickets & Travel for a Harry Potter Warner Brothers studio tour in London. Dates available are May 13, June 27 and August 26. American Red Cross job opening

The American Red Cross office located on RAF Lakenheath is announcing a job opening for the position of Filed Office Assistant. This position is a full-time paid staff position and will be filled by May.

All interested individuals must possess a British Visa and be able to work within the UK. The position is open to all family members of active duty service members, retired service members and their family members who are US citizens and family members of contractors who possess work visas for the UK.
