7/27/2012 - ROYAL AIR FORCE LAKENHEATH, England --

Name and Rank: Airman 1st Class Erika Rodriguez

Unit: 48th Maintenance Operations Squadron

Duty Title: Dedicated helicopter maintenance unit analyst

Time in Service: 1 year, 2 months

Time at Lakenheath: 5 months

Hometown: Detroit, Mich.

Hobbies: Anything active, sight-seeing and arts & crafts.

Core Value Portrayed: "Excellence in All We Do"

How does the individual portray that core value?
Rodriguez has been an excellent source of eagerness in our office. She came to us straight out of tech school and jumped right into her work duties, helping out our booster club and has been a constant volunteer for anything that pops up. Anytime she takes on a role or task, she does so with excitement and a determination to get it done right, no matter how small or big her part is. She has shown a growing desire for continuous improvement and innovation to not only her work duties, but in every aspect of her on-duty and off-duty pursuits. She has been source of positive encouragement to us all, and an example of the good that comes from an Airman that chooses to be excellent in all she does.

Why is serving in the Air Force important to you?
Serving in the Air Force is very important to me because it gives me pride in knowing that I am a part of something bigger and have the ability to support my country to make a difference.

What accomplishment during your Air Force career are you most proud of?
I am most proud of graduating Basic Military Training because without that, I would not have had the opportunities that I have now. Additionally, being an analyst for the HH-60G Pave Hawk has been an exciting experience that I couldn't get anywhere else.

What are your personal and/or professional goals?
My goals are finishing my Career Development Courses with a score of 90 percent or above, joining the Honor Guard, getting my Community College of the Air Force degree and then getting my Bachelors in Business Administration.

What is your favorite part of your job?
The best part is knowing that I am not just a "number cruncher." The products that I create are seen Air Force-wide and are used to help supervision make the big decisions that have big impacts to our mission.
