48th Medical Group

The 48th Medical Group supports combat capability for the 48 FW, 100 ARW, 501 CSW, and 352 SOG by delivering quality healthcare at six locations, including USAFE's premier specialty referral center.  Delivers $46M managed care program with 943 staff members to 35,000 beneficiaries, supporting 123,000 outpatients and 2,000 inpatients per year.  Prepares three wings for global wartime and humanitarian missions.  Maintains $17.2M War Reserve Materiel program

with 87 packages. Below are the squadrons that fall under the Medical Group.

 

48 AMDS

Supports combat capability for the 48 FW, 100 ARW, 501 CSW, and 352 SOG via $873K in aerospace, deployment, occupational, and optometric health care with 104 personnel in 6 facilities at RAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall serving 35,000 beneficiaries.  Prevents injury and disease through industrial hygiene, public health, physiologic, dietary, and fitness programs.  Provides disaster response to aviation mishaps, chemical, biological, and radiological events.

 

48 DS

Supports combat capability for the 48 FW, 100 ARW, 501 CSW, and 352 SOG by delivering quality dental care at two locations.  Provides oversight and ensures compliance with Air Force Dental Service policies for four remote dental operations.  Delivers $13.2M in comprehensive and emergent dental services to 35,000 beneficiaries through 68,000 dental appointments per year.  Prepares three wings for global wartime and humanitarian missions.

48 IPTS

Enables combat capability of the 48 FW, 100 ARW, 501 CSW and 352 SOG by delivering quality inpatient nursing care supporting 35K beneficiaries.  Serves as USAFE's largest Inpatient Operations Squadron and premier obstetrical referral center managing over 510 deliveries and 1.6K admissions per yr with 40 beds, 3-bed Special Care Unit and 3-crib nursery.  Utilizes $2.6M supplies & equipment.  Provides storknesting services to the 39 ABW and 65 ABW.

48 MDOS UMD

Supports combat capability of the 48 FW, 100 ARW, 501 CSW and 352 SOG through delivery of healthcare services to 35,000 beneficiaries.  Provides $19M in care through 66K outpatient and 810 inpatient encounters annually across clinical specialties including emergency services, pediatrics, mental health, internal medicine, allergy, developmental & educational services, neurology, dermatology, cardio-pulmonary, family health, and physical occupational therapy.

48 MDSS

Provides information and resource management, patient and personnel administration, logistics and readiness medical support, as well as laboratory/pathology, nutritional medicine and pharmacy services, to 3 Wings.  Supports 943 staff and 35K population at 6 operating locations in the UK and Norway with a $29.2M budget.  Maintains Expeditionary Medical Support through management of 32 personnel UTCs/87 War Reserve Materiel assemblages valued at $17M.

48 MSGS UMD

Supports combat capability for the 48 FW, 100 ARW, 501 CSW, and 352 SOG by providing comprehensive surgical, obstetric, gynecologic, and diagnostic imaging care at USAFE's premier specialty referral center.  Executes a $5M budget with 117 staff members for 35,000 beneficiaries while performing 1,450 surgeries, 510 deliveries, 32,000 radiology procedures, and 37,000 outpatient visits per year.  Supports 6 deployable equipment and personnel UTCs.
