In 2012, Airmen from Scott Air Force Base created a free app providing personnel across the Air Force access to what was going on at their installation.

The 375th Communication Support Squadron Software Engineering Flight created the app so users could stay current on upcoming events going on within the military community. After selecting a base, users can access organization directories, a real-time events calendar and even place quick calls to critical services.

The app, My Military Communities, has spread throughout Department of Defense installations, and recently, RAF Lakenheath has become one of them.

"It's the first mobile application in the Air Force that pulls a list of events from organizational Facebook pages associated with RAF Lakenheath and consolidates them into a central location," said Staff Sgt. Stephanie Longoria, 48th Fighter Wing Public Affairs NCO in charge of community engagement.

The app displays a list of events and allows the user to receive reminders and more information about an upcoming event.

Since the app allows the user to switch locations once they have departed a base, it's an easy way to stay in the loop of upcoming base-wide events and is a convenient tool to quickly access important information, all within the palm of your hand.

The app is accessible on both Apple's App store, as well as the Android Market, and serves as a helpful tool to all Airmen across all bases, especially inbound or new Airmen arriving to their first duty station.

To download the app, open your smartphone's app store and search "My Military Communities" or "MyMC2." Download the app from your iPhone here and your Android device here.
